Rocío Morán is a traditional artist who was born in Oakland, California and raised in Sacramento. When it became known Rocío had a "talent" or natural ability for art, her grandmother enrolled her into private classes for oil painting. Overtime Rocío has won several accolades from local shows and exhibitions, and she continued her art education in High School. Eventually Rocío went on to pursue a degree at UC Santa Cruz and graduated with a BA in Art in 2011. After she graduated, she had taken a break from art to become more well-rounded in other ventures.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Rocío rekindled her love and obsession to create art that speaks to her. Since then, she has been working on and growing her portfolio and social media presence all the while working a fulltime job, which she plans to leave from to commit to art fulltime. Rocío currently has an Etsy Shop, as well as the following social media she is active on: Instagram, TikTok, DeviantArt, & Pinterest.
Rocío's genre of art can be described as 'Magical and Imaginative Realism' with a whimsical twist. Her art is specifically inspired by the realm of fantasy----including myth, folklore, films, and books. Nature, detail, color are captivating features that play an equally significant role in her art, and she is also very entranced by mandala patterns. The mediums she tends to utilize are acrylics and pen, but she also dabbles in watercolors and mixed media such as quilling paper and craft items. Rocío’s goal in creating the work that she does is to offer a haven through beauty and enchantment, where viewers make seek solace and adventure, but also develop a sense of curiosity as she believes we all need to re-integrate the notion of "play" or the expansion of the human imagination back into our lives in this busy realm of our own we call Life. In doing so, we may continue to be open-minded and learn from others' diverse way of communicating and behaving. Her work can be quite nostalgic, but she believes adult themes can be conveyed and be just as effective through youthful and dreamy aesthetics via an alluring and attractive, but just-out-of-reach quality.
Rocío’s mission is to preserve and spur the continuation of the human imagination while also encouraging and supporting art careers. Her personal belief is that the arts is extremely important as it has this innate ability to heal the human psyche, fuel dreams, and encourage our sense of wonder, which in turn can help us find our true nature and intended purpose in life.
